So how many of you have made your final breeding decisions for 2009 foals, or even got your mares in foal all ready?
We've not had a great start so had to do some stallion switching. First one for my boss scanned in foal yesterday - phew - her champion hack mare to Willowcroft Regal Bronze
We've got Gerty (my big eventer) to scna start of next week to Weston Justice, and inseminated Dell on Wednesday to sempers Spirit. She didnt take first try to I am praying like mad.
Other mares booked or decided on
Venezia (Trakehner) to Sempers Spirit
Elf (Trakehner) to In Flagranti (trakehner in germany)
Dee hasnt foaled yet and I can not decide who to breed her back to, and am toying with the idea of covering my little thoroughbred mare who is looking brilliant at the moment, and torn between Garuda K (Trakehner) or Goshka Ringo _________________ www.volatis.co.uk

Sadly we had Kally Scanned today and shes empty , Had a abnormal follicle so the vet injected her and she will go back to stud next week.
I,m so disapointed this has never happen before and with her being 18 i,m starting to wonder will we get her in foal.
I just want to breed one more foal to keep.
We used the large Vanner stallion Token of Honour in the hope of breeding a large heavyweight foal as they are both 16.2hh.

Patchwood - early early days yet, send her back and we will all keep our fingers crossed!
We don't like foals really before May, as it is very wet here, so we are just starting to cover. Kofi (SSH by Elew) has been covered, scanned with twins, squeezed, lost both, not come back into season, jabbed and covered again. Ready to scan the start of next week! Lizzie of Larchmont has been covered by Exbury Ghost and we have just this minute done our first covering with the Criollo stallion (he says: "I no like to be rude, but she no look like much of a polo pony ")

Over in Ireland things have not gone to plan with Lou; she was not playing ball and cycling properly, despite help, for AI, so Sash switched tactics and she's away on holiday at a local Pally stallion.... she didn't take first time and has just come out of season second time, so everything crossed... although she has been commandeered as field mate for said stallion (only in Ireland!) for the summer, so if she doesn't take again, she's in the right place.....
She was brill to get in foal the first two times (even though she 'hides' her pregnancy at the first scan), so I don't know why she didn't keep her pregnancy last year or play ball the beginning of this.....
Cosima (Sash's 15.2hh show horse, on a year out due to field injury) has been scanned in foal to a hairy coloured (who has 30 foals on the ground this year and all are coloured, so praying he's homozygous - they haven't tested him), hopefully for a coloured show cob...
Prossy (TB) scanned in foal to Harry (TB) - they are 'married' and full siblings are born every year; their first offspring has his first UK race on Tuesday so everything crossed!!!
Nothing else has foaled yet, so we shall see what they have and then make decisions accordingly......
Of 'my' mares, both of whom arrive in Autumn after this year's foals have been weaned, I've requested that the Knab one in Denmark go back to Cornelius... praying for spots, and likewise praying for spots from my British Spotted Pony mare - she's going back to the same stallion as this year... so will hopefully have mini and maxi spotties due (everything crossed!!!) around this time next year!!! Don't want to jinx things too much, so will shut up now!

Sarah - your gonna have some beautiful babies nxt year
still have a few mares left to cover but this is whats decided so far.....
Elissa has been scanned in foal to Fronparch Rockafella.
Tallulah, either AV Montoya or Granatnik, possibly leave her empty this year and get her out doing things as shes quite bored at the mo.
Lucy is now for sale so im not going to be breeding from her.
Lizzy is also for sale.
Megan is scanned in foal to Sandro Hit, so thats gonna be a very exciting baby.
Gem will be covered by Fronparch Rockafella in the next couple of weeks
our 2 fave liveries Katelyn & Katees Rockset have sadly been sold so wont be seeing any foals from them nxt year lol.
Steeplestokes Rosalea is another of our liveries whos owner was hoping to put her in-foal to Angelo Of Asgard(Ghost), but after seeing what happened to Angel, shes not too keen on the whole breeding thing and is going to carry on competing Rosie for another few years. which is quite understandable lol.
thats all ive decided at the moment.

It will definitely be tobiano - that just means splodgy!! But whether it's chestnut, bay, pally or buckskin tobiano depends on whether Luci passes on her dilute gene or not! He has also covered a very well bred Arab mare so it'll be interesting to see what sort of foals he throws to Arabs and PBAs like Luci as I would like to get an Arabian mare of my own to cover next year...

We have 5 scanned in foal so far;
Lambada to Harley as well as Yellow Gram and Poppy. Elektra and Diva scanned in foal to Dancer. Lupina has been inseminated with Rubin Star N but not scanned yet. Rozie covered by Harley.
Bibi my old mare has been covered by Dancer and I am still in a major internal dilemma over Tilde; I am really pleased with her Rubin Star colt but I have been persuaded to sell Snow Wolf (her last yeras colt by Dancer) who I loved so I am tempted to put her back to Dancer this year before he gets too old and then use an 'outsider' for her again next year.
Angel I plan to use Millenium on (I think!!) as I love him, he is so impressive in the flesh.
As I change my mind at least 3 times a day, until it actually happens, nothing is definate though!!
