Entries for the 4th annual UK KNN Knabstrupper gradings run by the Knabstrupper Society GB (KSGB) close on the 1st of August 2008.

Horses and ponies out of approved Knabstrupper parentage, or approved outcrosses, are eligible for Main Stud Book grading.

Mares and geldings out of unknown or unapproved parentage may be eligible for grading into the Appendix. The Appendix leads to the Main Stud Book.

Stallions must have their parentage DNA verified at the time of grading. No late entries for stallions will be accepted unless the stallion has already had its parentage verified.

Late entries for mares and geldings may be accepted where practicable, but stabling and entry into the grading catalogue cannot be guaranteed.

Entry form and schedule can be found on the KSGB website:

I'd like to take my Hamlet colt but I don't have a KNN covering certificate for him - just a SHAPS one - is that likely to cause problems Duncan?

Hey Sarah, you best get on to that - you do know that SHAPS has folded dont you? The British Spotted Pony Society (they have a website) should honor the covering certificate, they are now calling themselves the Spotted Sport Horse Breeding for the horse side of things. They are very helpful. If it was me to be honest though, I would be trying to get the KNN covering certificate.

Useful to know about the new Spotted society honoring SHAPS ones - I assumably could get a ECHA or KNN cert for him - but things have been pretty hectic and I haveb't gt round to sorting out any passports for the babies yet - that's next month's job!

I'm afraid I am guilty of being too trusting where that place is concerned also and get very expensively burnt/conned/ripped off too. Trouble is, it makes you not trust other studs, which isn't fair, we aren't all the same!

sadly when you respect people & put your trust in people and they let you down Shocked Sad ......it hurts Sad .I USED Wink to tend to continue trust people even when things start falling apart ....but unfortunately some people mistake trust & honesty as a sign of weakness & then try using your trust & respect to bully you Sad Rolling Eyes .....but i may have been a very trusting person but i m not STUPID ! Wink .So when pushed & forced into a corner i will always come out fighting (i ll also always stand up for others who are bullied Rolling Eyes ......as i can t stand spiteful , cruel , controling people who belittle others Evil or Very Mad ).but your right Claire the sad thing is these experiences have a lasting impact on you Sad and it does make you less trusting in general Sad .......i m certainly not the same person i was 2 1/2 years ago ! Sad Wink ......but i am STRONGER! Wink

Ha ha ha - sorry, but I just had a mad image of you coming out fighting - arms flying around everywhere - Scrappy Doo style - shouting 'Puppy Power'.... Just my bored (at work) vivid imagination again.

Good for you, I am glad there are some decent people left in the world - and to be honest this forum seems to have a few, nice polite and no malicious backstabbing like on other forums you see.

Hi Sarah,

The SHAPS covering certificate is not a problem to be able to bring your foal for assessment.

As long as the horse's pedigree is of recognised ancestry the KNN will assess foals and youngstock and grade horses (Main Stud Book or Appendix).

Any other questions, let me know and I'll see if I can help.
