Well we've had a busy couple of days. A lovely chap, Jamie came down from Gloucester to teach our boys to use the dummy mare for collection for AI.

To put it bluntly they were a little slow starting...cue lots of gay stallion jokes, and I was starting to think I had the least sexed boys ever, although Jamie assures me he's seen worse!

Anyway - after 48 hours work they are now both happy to use the dummy, which I am very impressed with. Jamie was brilliant, patient and very imformative - he really knows his stuff. We had 2 extremes - my low libido boys and Gayle a friend of mine bought her VERY randy 5 year old cremello boy down too. He literally spotted the AV and after a very brief tease jumped straight on the AV and voila - easy collection!

At the end Ghost had progressed to jumping the AV without a mare next to it, whereas Inde still needed a mare 10 feet or so on the other side of the dummy to aim for!!

Both boys had very good semen samples - it was really interesting to see the sperm under the microscope and Jamie had a play with extenders and they both chilled well too.

I can thoroughly reccomend him - have a look at www.equinereproduction.co.uk for more info!

I will post a couple of pics....

This should be Inde

Couldn't get the pics to upload so have put them in my flickr album...

Here's Ghost http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3236/2312418561_38b27dac23.jpg

And Gayle's boy Vangelis

Chris made the dummy and I have to confess I was very impressed with how it managed to stood up to some serious poundings! And there is a classic close up (which I'mnot posting!) of my face showing sheer terror while I am collecting off of Ghost - I hated it!! Laughing

Ah go on - you can't tease us like that!!!! Very Happy

Clever boys, they look very chilled about the who;e experience. We will probably look into it for Arrayan next year, he's a bit of a dope at the moment, Nico bless him would leap on anything!!

I used to work on big TB studs, which obviously DO NOT DO AI ( Shocked ) and it was amazing what some stallions would try and leap on, rugs over fences that sort of thing...... Odd that?!!!! LOL

Funny you should say that Sarah - he is making one for Gayle to take home tomorrow and has already had interest in another one from someone else so it is definitely something we're going to offer

Worth contacting Du-Barry. I wonder if they would use that photograph as an advertising campaign for their boots!!!!! Rolling Eyes

LoL could be an interesting slant on their advertising campaign! Although they don't look as pristine as most Dubarrys do - mine are well and truly yard boots now!
