British Spotted Pony Colt

Postby Louida on Sun May 17, 2009 8:38 pm

Yey! Finally a week late he puts in an appearance.....

Some of you will have already seen on Facebook....

Georgie delivered a fewspot colt at 1.45am this morning.... both doing well now - had a bit of a wait for the placenta, but it was worth it as it was intact.

Will try and see if I can post pics:

arhh - bless, he looks lovely! How big will he make you think? (if you didn't say few-spot, i'd have said a nice roan!) Just goes to show iam not very good at all this breeding colour milarky!!

ps - How about calling him William, but don't ask me why!! (or Zippy from 'rainbow' with George, Bungle and what ever the man was called!) lol - iam losing the plot now....

Thanks guys - I know he's not one of the big warmblood flashy foals that everyone hankers after, but he's pretty damn special to us...

The head comes from the Welsh influence - he's a British Spotted Pony, and is full brother to last year's filly who's pedigree is here (he doesn't have a proper name yet, so I haven't put him on):

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/britains+royal+romance

Dad is 13.1hh and mum is 11.3hh, but he was HUGE when he was born so I'm thinking he'll make the upper end of that range...

I was praying for spots, and we have been doubly blessed.... just waiting to see if he's going to fulfil his promise and be good enough quality to be my foundation pony stallion.....

Have got more pics but have lost my card reader atm....

Thanks guys - how much time can be spent looking at a foal in a stable/field?!   8) I must surely have wasted a good few hours this week! LOL

Still cannot find my card reader, but managed to get this one uploaded via my printer... absolutely love it:

Image

have some action shots as he was running around like a loony - first time out - but haven't got them off my camera yet....

Phoebe has named him Henry (not bad for a nearly 4yo girl, could have been much worse!) as a stable name.... we are looking at 'sea' names as we are within sight of the sea here, and I want it to begin with an S to follow on from his sire's name..... Seahawk is the current favourite....

Any suggestions very welcome....
