Flash

Well it was a bit last minute as I didn't even know it was on til Thursday, but today Paul and I took Bambi & Flash to the BSPA SW Region Autumn Show. He and Bambi are in anyway being prepped for the ldenburg Inspection next week so it wasn't a massive hardship to give him a bath and spruce them up a bit, and good practise for Wednesday...

Paul despairs at me as I am so disorganised but we managed to get them both there (only got lost once) and arrived with about 5 minutes to spare!

(he also bullied me into plaiting him myself which I did attempt although he then mocked my hamhanded sewing! lol)

First class was the Best Markings and there were 6 in the class of varying types. Flash was very on edge and he pulled a lot, wouldn't stand up nicely for the judge, and in the end we were pulled in 4th out of 6...

Then stayed in for the Best foal class - 2 other entries... He did his special Flash trot and I was so pleased when we were pulled in first...

Stayed for the Championship - during the wait the classic Sar luck happened again... Bambi broke her bridle (sorry, Inde's STUBBEN bridle!) on Paul's trailer, and then while I was frantically attaching a borrowed head peice to it, she lashed out at a pony behind her and kicked the fence rail off the posts... Paul came back from getting hot chocolates and said that I really shouldn't be left alone without an adult...!

So, in to the championship...with Paul whispering tips to me the whole time... (Good job one of us knew what we were doing) and after special instruction from him to really get him moving we launched into a Flashy trot and then waited while the judges gave them all a final look over...

And they pulled in....

FLASH!!! as champion!

Bless him! I was so chuffed! So glad I decided to go!

Obviously huge thanks must go to Paul who ran Bambi and also plaited her and helped finish off Flash when my slowness drove him to distraction... and also thanks to Caroline for coming and helping today, and getting up before 6 this morning to help me muck out/chuck out the stallions and liveries before we left - couldn't have done it without them!

Lots of compliments on Flash from people watching and the judge kept saying what a fab mover he was

No pics as although I remembered to charge the battery, change the camera lens, and put it in the car I forgot to put the charged battery IN the camera!

Well done, Flash is gorgeous and you must be so chuffed. Pity there are no photos but by the sounds of things I don't think you would have had any time to take any!!! It's a steep learning curve but it's obviously worth it and you have someone very experienced to advise you. As Laura said at least you didn't fall over today!!!!!!!!!

Good luck for the inspection next week I hope he goes well for you again.

Brilliant - so proud for you, and so entertaining for us.

You are more organised than us. We were going to take Kosmo to the BSPA champs, but forgot :?

Well done the Flash Boy... He was a super star, loaded like a pro, and they both travelled very well...... Must have been my driving

The Championship consisted of Foals, yearlings, two and three year olds... Some of them have even won at County Level...

Just goes to show what a special boy he is....

Sarah deserves praise too, she paid attention the whole time in the ring, watching everyone else, and making sure that Flash could be seen the whole time by the judge, by standing in front of Bambi, and not being obscured by her.

Congratulations all round.....

Paul
