this is the mail that i sent to Jim Fitzpatrick

Dear Sir,
I am writing as I have been made aware that you have been made the minister for horses and without being rude looking at your web site I wonder what you actually know about horses and what you make of the current proposed horse tax to be administered by DEFFRA.
As a disillusioned voter I suspect I will get a bog standard couldn’t care less answer.
I don’t wish to appear rude but it’s how I feel at the moment as a voter.
I look forward to seeing if you can reply with a good horsemanship answer.
Sincerely,

I have had a reply saying that he will write to me in due course. He sent a carbon copy to DEFFRA.
It will be interesting to see what reply I get.

No reply from anyone and no other read receipts have come through yet. Anne Snelgrove has read hers. She's just been promoted to the PM's Private Secretary I think. She's helped me get the probs with my neighbours sorted so I'm hoping she'll help with this and if she's the PM's private secretatry I wonder if she can have whisper in his ear??!!

I am following the thread but not being very pro-active at all! So on 30th June they will decide whether we have to pay £10.50 to Defra for 'disease prevention'?

Ive just heard back from the prospective mp for Exeter Hannah Foster conservatives. She is currently looking into it and taking advise from the rural affairs spokesman as to their position on it. Hannah says in principal she certainly opposes it.

The only reply I've had was from Michael Wills MP for Swindon South, as I'm not one of his constituents he won't take it on!!!!! He referred me to Anne Snelgrove MP who I've already written to!

13 days left to take action!!!!!!!!!

You can find out your MP by googling MP for and your area...

Your letter has to be with your MP ASAP and to DEFRA by 30th June.

I'm not certain of how long the consultation period lasts, it sounds like they're in the final stages. You could phone DEFRA for more info - the tel no is on this thread somewhere, probably nearer the beginning.

I think I posted a template for a letter too, but let me know if you need help.

I sent an email to Defra and forwarded it to all of my horsey friends asking them to do the same. So annoying that horses always get dragged into 'agricultural' problems when it suits Defra!! Do you remember when they were talking of culling horses during F&M? Yet when ever we want rights they claim that horses are a leisure animal?

So don't worry Moodymare, your posts are being read!! Its just that some of us are a bit too lazy to let you know
