Dear god, even in a credit crunch I'd heard of people looking for horses of his type and having a budget of £2000 plus....

I would have expected him to have a price tag of three grand plus?!!!!

Yes, shock to us all! He was £5000 originally. Had a few viewings but he was either too cobby and slow or too green in the arena. Great hunter though and had interesting rides as he is 'spooky'. Gave him charactor i say! Owner says its not about money, but about safety?? He never ever felt unsafe.
Will be very sad to see him go.

The owner is regretting this i think! Samps went to his new home on Thursday evening. Loaded like a pro into the biggest, grandest horsebox you could think of. Arrived at his New Forest home in the darkness, no hastle, no worries. Went out for a hack on friday - nothing wrong, so they took him hunting with the Wilton on Sat. Had a fab day, he was very good. Lots of complements! ( I knew he was good) So now they want to get his dressage better and aim for intro?? (not quite the type i thought, but if they can do it, why not??) and then show him in cob classes and try to qualify for HOYS!! Great ideas, but he will have to have his tail pulled - right?? (he will HATE that) and what can you do about a splint? - Would it mark them down loads?? Iam now 'facebook' friends with the new owners and iam waiting for pictures of 'me boy'!
Owner Debbie has got to feel slightly gutted by losing out on some money - right?

He sounds like a complete star, I am still very surprised the owner gave him away!

I doubt he would qualify for HOYS with a split, Frankie has a split and I dont even bother showing him locally now as it always puts him down.

I think most horses are capable of making it round an Intro especially if he is fit enough for hunting. Sounds like she has found him a good home, I wish them luck in achieving their goals :D

Sounds like she made the right choice in giving him away, sometimes giving away your horse can attract dealers and things but sometimes it turns out to be the right choice as it seems it was here :D

Duke has a splint and is doing very well in his showing career, although hes not a cob and im not aimint to qualify for hoys..... but if this horse is such a good example then a few marks down for his splint should still keep him in with a chance of getting there :)

you never know lol
