Hi everyone, I live on the eastern side of Dartmoor, between Exeter and Moretonhampstead. I'm married, four horses, three dogs, numerous chickens, and own a feed merchants. Will post pics later, but am thinking of Inde-cent for our mare this year.

Hi Lucy - lovely to see a local 'face' on here! 4 horses and 3 dogs must keep you pretty busy, even without the feed merchants as well!

Tell us more about your horses!

Hmm, I've been trying to work out how to post pics on this forum for about an hour now, but am no further forward! I normally post via photobucket, and have also followed the guidelines on this site, but it's not happening for me. Any guidance would be appreciated.

In the meantime, we have Harley, my l/w buckskin and white cob, 16 years old, my first ever horse and the apple of my eye! Echo, husbands traditional piebald, not had him long, he is IMHO a dope on a rope! Don't tell the husband I said that though! Risky, Section D x appaloosa mare, retired, had her first foal last summer, and her yearling filly, Ellie, who's sire is McIlveen Mattie from Cherrytop Stud, and has to our delight turned near leopard spot. She was bown with a spotted blanket, but lost all her bay bits quickly. Hell, I wish I could post pics![/img]

Hello and welcome! Your horses sound lovely, especially Ellie! I have become quite impartial to spotted horses! I look forward to seeing photos - I'm sure someone will be able to help you out posting some soon!

Er did you mean impartial?!!! Laughing Personally I'm rather partial to spots!

Photobucket - if you click on the bottom line of gumf under the photo it should automatically copy and then just right click and paste on here? Does that work?

Ok, let's try posting some pics!

These are Harley and Echo, Harl is the buckskin tobiano, and he's 16 this year, I've had him since he was five, he's a light weight show cob type, although we only do in hand as ridden showing is just too stressful for both of us! We've had Echo since September, he first came on loan and then we bought him, he is the original vanner type, long flowing locks, and a real dope on a rope to look after and ride! He is my husbands, but secretly I think he finds him a bit boring, whereas Harley is easy to control but a bit sharp and silly, and real fun pony!
[img][/img]

We also have Risky, she's about 18 now, and bred her first foal last summer. Risky was bought as a companion, I traced her pedigree which was marekd Welsh Section D x appaloosa on her pedigree, and on speaking with her sires owner, discovered she had very good breeding lines. Well, you have to take advantage of that don't you! Her sire is Sinton Gamble, who won at Ponies UK years ago, and has many successful progent mainly in the USA, and her dam was an appaloosa, presumably a few spot as she had just the one big spot on her bum. Risky was spotted when younger, but is now persil white! We put Risky to a Section D stallion in 2006, thinking we would breed me my next horse, and that whilst height wasn't important, substance was! This is what we got! This is Ellie the day she was born, 8 June 2007. [img][/img]
And a few months later, you can see she has lost all the dark coat.[img][/img]
And this is in December, her neck isn't as thick as it looks, she was growing in spurts and was leaving the neck length until last!
[img][/img]

Hopefully this has worked!

Great pics! Well done for mastering it, something that still isn't my strong point! Confused Confused
Ellie looks fab (they all do !!) isn't the coat colouring thing so interesting?? So, I take it she is 3/4 sec D?? All the very best with her and the others, iam sure you will breed another stunning foalie from your mare whoever you choose to use!

Thank you, I just can't decide whether to breed the mare again! She won't ever be ridden again so she may as well be useful having another foal rather than just being a field ornament!

She's just started another growth spurt, I reckon she's about 12.2 to 13hh at the moment. As long as she makes over 14hh that's enough for me.
