Yearling showing....................

Postby kandm on Thu Aug 06, 2009 8:56 pm

I am looking to start showing my coloured yearling. He is gelded and sports horse type.

I am very reluctant to bit him for at least another year. What are the rules on showing yearlings and bits etc? What would I show him in (if not a bridle n bit)?

All the help I can get is appreciated,
Many Thanks

Kate

Hi,
I started showing my yearling gelding appaloosa last year I was advised by a show secretary to put a bit in his mouth but not to lead him on it, to put the lead rein on his noseband, which I did with no problems. However if you really don't want to put a bit in his mouth we got our yearling filly this year an inhand bridle designed for no bit you need to get a special coupling for it to complete the noseband, its hard to explain exactly what its like, you can get them and the coupling from Shires Equestrian, hope this helps good luck, Paula.
