Templeton - 11 yr old standardbred trotter - reported to have been purchased at a driving sale for $4,800.00 approximately 4 weeks ago... then 2 weeks ago was involved in a vehicle collision. He has significant lacerations on his right side and will take a long time to rehabilitate. We got the call today from someone that this horse was going to ship to Mexico for slaughter and we purchased him to save his life and spare him further agony. After all he has been through he deserves "another chance

LATER

A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO

He looks healed now but he still hasnt healed from the trauma inside

Crying or Very sad
He is availible for adoption to a wonderful loving home

Blimey, thats a story! Sadly though, its a story I hear about often as we have a rescue pony on loan from a sanctuary. He does look much better now - well done! Hope he continues to get better and hope you find him a nice adoptive home.

Ouch - poor thing. I hope he recovers from his trauma, like Ruth says it looks like he has healed up well on the outside.

Its great to know that he's been given a chance! And what a turn around
its like a seen of the horse whisperer, thats all he needs is now is someone like Harrison Fords character to heal him from the inside!

unbelievable that the owners would just send him off to slaughter. Well done on the rescue and the recovery. I think if i had put that much work into getting him well i couldnt give him up.
I hope you find him a deserving home.

I bought a sec C pony many years ago who had been struck by lightening was thin and full of rain scald and bald patches where the head collar had been left on with a rope hanging. Wont mention any names as this was a pro breeder. I brought her home and put a notice on the stable door to let people know that i hadnt got her in this condition. Within 18 months i got her looking wonderful and she won her class at the Devon COunty show. That mare is now 22 years old and has a very happy home in Wales, she has had a dream life after a very poor begining. Sometimes it can be so rewarding but the treatment by some people so devastating. Very Happy
