My palomino mare Barbie was due June 20th and STILL han't foaled!!!
I covered her in hand last year, so i am pretty certain of my dates, and this one is definately late!! I've had the vet today and he said the longest gestation he'd had this year was 385 days, and i'm only 375 days so i shouldn't panic - but i can't help it!!!!!!
She does the funniest (and most annoying) things with her udder... she will build up bag over a week to ten days until it's full and hot and looking close to waxing up, and then the next day it all appears to have gone away and she barely looks in foal... then she does it all again. She's done it 3 times now, and it's very odd and off putting!!!! I think she is laughing at me and just likes me to sleep in the stables with her to keep her company! Laughing (see bottom picture) lol.

She's huge! She is also a very interesting shade of pally - I haven't seen one that dark before (or is it just the light/lack of it?)

I love the yawning photo... I think she looks a little slim to be in foal - more like wind! Joking of course!

Are you out there Liz!?!?!?! Any update?

SORRY! Forgot to prss the box that lets you know when there is a reply!! Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Welllllll............. She STILL has NOT had it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vet says all is well and i must just wait - easier said than done!!!!

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

But on the color comments, yes she is the funniest shade of palomino i have ever seen either... i don't know what colour her dam/sire were as her passport was 'lost' when i bought her, but she is sort of an apricot color, and her mane and tail have about 70% color 30% white...very odd, looking forward to seeing what color foal she produces and desperately keeping fingers crossed that the foal will not have any problems.
I have heard that foals that are very late can be prone to mental issues, being sort of slow / retarded (hope that is not a non P.C. was of explaining it)? Has anyone else ever had this???

had no experience but i thought it was lack of oxygen that caused problems like that in complications with the placenta or delays durring actual labour Confused Rolling Eyes ,i"think " if the vet is happy all is well the foal should be safe Very Happy .i wish you all the best i know how your feeling as i was on pins with Kai too :wink:keep us updated Cool Very Happy GOOD LUCK! Very Happy

NO WAY... I dont believe it... Jesus - you'll have forgotten what your own bed is like!!!!

Nope I've never heard of over due causing mental issues, I dont see how it can really... I do know that when they are over due though that they have lots of mane and tail and its whiskers will be very long and probably curl around the nose and mouth and may even be knotted. Its got to be a boy to be this late....

IT'S A GIRL!!! Razz Razz Razz Razz
Born saturday, in the field at 5.30 in the afternoon!!!
Palomino filly, 3 very jaggedy sabino socks, beautiful girl - mum is doing amazingly and is very good mum.
Lots and lots of moustach so that helps prove the theory Claire had, and she was up and cantering and bucking within hour of birth, so definately very strong. Very pleased with her - definately worth the wait!!! Even if she did go 405 days!!!!!!!!!! Think she will be called Cassiopia. Very Happy

Guess she got fed up waiting for the summer to arrive like the rest of us and thought she'd better put in an appearance. Well done, she looks cracking...
