Well done to the boys! - Did you use one of your owns mares to act as an encouragement?
Iam not to keen on willy-washing either, (but Ghost didn't seem to mind!) lol

R&M yes we used Megan who was in season as a teaser mare - she was well up for it!
Lol Sarah poor Gary - bet he was a bit worried - probably thought his baby rearing days were over!

Pardon my ignorance only ever breeding with my beloved Welsh which like real on the job how the heck do you get the stallion to perform for a pretend horse, do they read horse porn first. I am assuming you must have an in season mare somewhere in the area?

lol Jamie the guy who taught ours is very good - goes through the procedure step by step... first thing is to teach them to draw- so teasing them enough to get them, ahem, hard!
Then gradually he walked us through the process of introducing them to the dummy mare, until after 2 days they jumped up on to it. Now they are old pros and jump up easily, do the deed, and swagger back to their stables! lol

You are lucky all your boys will use the dummy. Well done!
I sent mine away two years ago and he WILL NOT USE ONE. He totally ignores it and will not be 'teased' into using it. Tried two studs to train him but there was no way. He ended up kicking it into touch which is NOT my boy - he is the most genteel man.
Twemlows (where he is) have to collect using a mare. His favourite is Charity a Shire cross mare whom he is in love with - never occurs to him that the AV tube comes in at the most important time . Feel slightly sorry for Charity, she has had her overies removed and therefore permanently (apparently) smells good to the boys. She does get looked after extremely well though and has had some very famous names on her back!!
Apparently it is not that unusual for a stallion to not take to the dunny - I do wonder if it is because he normally runs with his mares all the time and is more used to pasture breeding - any thoughts!
There is absolutely no way he is convinced and as I said if the girl ain't available to mount he doesn't even get excited.
So well done you.

Hi WW
I have been advised it can be much harder to train a stallion to use the dummy when they have done live cover first. Our three all did the dummy first and were fine. I guess there is no fooling your boy - he wants the real thing thank you very much Can't blame him really

How did you make that dummy? I want one! Its fantastic, we have been looking at making one for next year but Poor Rob (bless him) Who never knew anything about horses is now trying to work out how to make a dummy!!! How much did it cost you ? I may have the same problems as you as Oslo is already getting the gay jokes at 3!!!
Does that bloke come as far as Lancashire for training?
