IF someone really nice, compentant and has a huge understanding of 'possible quirkiness' then I would loan out my mare Meg.
The reason??
Well, putting it a nutshell - finance - or lack of it, to compete. Entry fees are ever increasing and looking at her in the field she seems wasted. Managed to take her out twice this year, ideally it should be twice a month.
She is 12 years old, 15hh (looks 14.2hh, but rides 16hh!!) Dark brown with grey flecks throughout her coat. I've had her since she was four, broken her and competed to Pre-Novice BE. Won and placed Open hunter trials, unaffilliated SJ and she has hunted. She is 100% traffic, but loves to spook at hedge monsters. Sadly she incurred an injury to her hock as a babe, so she is blemished but never been lame. 100% load - trailer/box.
She will always need to be held with the farrier - the 'steam' gets to her, so we don't tie her up. Sadly she is a vet hater - so patience is required on this front.
Prefers to live out 24/7 365.
If anyone knows anyone who wants to know more, please let me know.
NB - this is a very tough descion - please bear with me!

ps - She is by a TB 'Type Edition X Welsh D

I'm having the same dilema with my riding "horse" (mule) so I know how you feel. Half of me says she's wasted (and never mind competing I havn't ridden her in months) and the other half of me says well she's not ruined (rather easily done with mules, they forget nothing!!!!)

Such a horrible situation for you, hope you find the right person.

i feel for you too :( .....i m also feeling he pinch :? & competing is horrendously expensive  :? so i can understand what yur going through
ideally could you find a shared ?.....or a college or ridding school that would have her on working livery to cut down the cost of keeping her ?
just a thought
life without horses & chocolate just wouldn t be worth living!

Hiya

I have a friend looking for a full loan, and she's in Dorset (Bridport), where abouts are you?

She's an AI, a listed judge and very quiet and patient. FANTASTIC rider, makes me jealous every time I watch her!

Can I put her in touch with you?

Hi Ruth
I had a chat with my friend, she is definitely interested in Meg. However, she is looking for a horse that she can share with a friend, and I wasn't sure if that was something you would be comfortable with? The other girl has competed at riding club level and is an experienced horse owner. They would be looking to do lots of fun hacks with the kids (who have decent ponies of their own), and riding club level competitions.
If you would still like to speak to her, let me know and I'll put her in touch with you.

Hi, ummm. I will be honest and say iam not comfortable with the loan thing + then sharing, that might just complicate things, BUT no harm in a chat and see where that takes it?!

hiya. are you still thinking about offering Meg on loan? I am an extremely confident rider, have ridden almost everything, sat to alot of big bucks and bronco's, love jumping, cross country but mainly dressage and showing :). Dont mind anything quirky as im completely used to it having ridden my typicaly sensitive thoroughbred, a friends very silly holsteiner at the beach - he tried to run from a wave broncoing whilst bolting with me and i stayed on :D was a very proud moment and everyone who was with me commented on how amazing my balance is and how quietly i sat there and let him get over himself lol. ive ridden spooky arabs, alot of VERY cheeky shetlands when i was shorter, my 13.1hh mare is a complete nutcase, shes very well schooled but can be a bit nappy hacking on her own, however i always sit very quietly on her and comfort her making her feel safe to keep going. she also has a tendency to try to bolt, she uses the old itchy knee trick and then puts her head between her front legs and legs it lol. In the short time of the summer holidays ive managed to get her mind completely off of bolting and napping, shes now a completely well behaved fun pony!

I ride a range of different horses but cannot stand anything boring that never shows a sign of attitude. Do you have any photos of Meg?

Hope youve found her a wonderful loanee if you decided to go ahead with it and found someone xxx
